Dave Bigelow
Dave Bigelow is nearing the conclusion of his stay here on this beautiful planet, however at the age of 82 he still loves working with wood. He makes cheese boards and cutting boards from both exotic timbers and NZ natives. He has recently been able to source native Northland timber milled in the 1860’s which is being recovered after having lain sunken in rivers which once conveyed them to the Kaipara for milling. These timbers have been perfectly preserved because of their total immersion in the river water. His aim is to move totally to river recovered natives in order to reduce the need to deplete our standing natives. He applauds the two individuals who are not only recovering the sunken logs but replanting the river edges with natives after the extraction of the logs.
