I am a cabinet maker/joiner by trade
and I have had a varied career in cabinet making, building, aluminium & cedar conservatories and creating one-off furniture pieces.
Unfortunately, due to ageing and lack of affordable body parts, I am moving away from building to concentrate on creating furniture and fishing.
I am a hoarder of valuable pieces of junk and second hand timber and like to combine polished concrete and/or steel in with my work.
I previously made tables from kauri stumps and root systems. The stump forms the base with the roots facing upwards, leveled off with a glass top.
I still have my very first piece and derive a lot of pleasure from looking into it and seeing faces and monsters that I hadn’t seen before.
Recently I have been incorporating steel and wood into my tables. I have good stock of recycled kauri and totara and steel things. My latest venture is making a swinging seat out of an old concrete mixer!??
