Born in Whangarei and raised in the Kaipara, Ryan Walker is of Ngāpuhi descent. Ryan is a dedicated craftsman and carver. He is self-taught and creates pieces that honour the timeless artistry of Māori carving while incorporating a contemporary touch.

Inspired by the flowing lines and intricate patterns found in nature, Ryan creates pieces that reflect the organic beauty of the world around us. Drawing from the wood itself, he embraces the unique grain and warm tones of kauri and its gum, allowing the natural characteristics of the material to shape his creations.
